Associate, Venture Development
Remote · Full-time
Venture Development Associate builds relationships with founders, sources promising new ventures, and helps evaluate opportunities for the studio. Working alongside Eider Group partners, the role combines founder outreach, early-stage assessment, and relationship development to move strong opportunities forward.
About Eider Group
Eider Group is a venture studio that builds and backs early-stage technology companies from idea through scale.
We work alongside founders to validate markets, shape products, build technical foundations, launch into market, and create the operating and growth systems required to build durable businesses. Our venture studio model brings together product, technology, go-to-market, operating expertise, and targeted capital in one connected company-building approach.
Our framework spans six stages: Validate, Design, Build, Launch, Grow, and Fund & Scale.
We focus on markets where deep technology, complex operations, and enterprise growth matter, including AI-native and AI-enabled platforms, health tech, fintech, B2B and vertical SaaS, MarTech and RevTech, and infrastructure and data platforms.
From idea to scale.
The Role
Eider Group is seeking a Venture Development Associate to help expand our network of founders and identify promising new venture opportunities.
This is a relationship-driven role at the front end of the venture studio. You will meet founders, entrepreneurs, operators, and other members of the startup ecosystem, develop relationships over time, and help surface companies and ideas that may be a strong fit for Eider Group.
You will often be among the first people at Eider Group to engage with a prospective founder. The role requires curiosity, strong communication, good judgment, and the ability to understand an early-stage opportunity before every answer is known.
Working alongside Eider Group partners, you will help source new opportunities, conduct initial conversations, assess fit with the studio, coordinate evaluation, and move promising ventures forward.
What You'll Do
- Identify and develop relationships with promising founders, entrepreneurs, and operators.
- Source new venture opportunities through direct outreach, referrals, founder communities, events, accelerators, universities, investors, and other ecosystem relationships.
- Build and maintain a thoughtful pipeline of founders and opportunities within Eider Group's focus markets.
- Conduct introductory conversations to understand the founder, problem, market, product, business model, stage, and long-term ambition behind prospective ventures.
- Help evaluate opportunities against Eider Group's venture thesis, capabilities, and studio model.
- Introduce founders to the Eider Group approach and help them understand how the studio can contribute to building their company.
- Research markets, companies, competitive landscapes, and emerging categories to support venture evaluation.
- Prepare concise opportunity briefs, founder profiles, and recommendations for Eider Group partners.
- Coordinate deeper evaluation across market, product, technology, financial, and go-to-market considerations.
- Maintain relationships with promising founders whose timing may not yet be right for an active studio engagement.
- Develop relationships with investors, accelerators, universities, advisors, operators, and other sources of founder introductions.
- Maintain Eider Group's venture pipeline, CRM, follow-up, and opportunity records.
- Track trends and patterns emerging from founder conversations and share insights that can inform Eider Group's market thesis and venture strategy.
- Support Eider Group's presence within relevant technology, startup, investor, and founder communities.
- Contribute to founder-focused events, partnerships, content, and other initiatives that strengthen Eider Group's network and generate new venture opportunities.
What Success Looks Like
Success is not about maximizing the number of names in a pipeline. It is about helping Eider Group consistently develop relationships with founders and identify opportunities worth spending time on.
Over time, you will:
- Build a healthy pipeline of relevant founder and venture opportunities.
- Develop trusted relationships with founders before they are actively seeking a studio or capital partner.
- Generate qualified opportunities that progress into deeper studio evaluation.
- Expand Eider Group's referral network across founders, operators, investors, and startup ecosystems.
- Improve the quality of information available to Eider Group partners when evaluating prospective ventures.
- Help identify opportunities where Eider Group's hands-on venture studio model can materially improve the probability of success.
- Contribute to new ventures entering the Eider Group studio.
Who You Are
You are naturally curious about founders, markets, products, and how companies get built.
You enjoy meeting new people and are comfortable initiating relationships rather than waiting for opportunities to arrive. You can have a thoughtful conversation with a founder whose company may consist of little more than an insight, early prototype, or initial customer signal.
You do not need to have every answer yourself. You do need to know how to listen, ask good questions, recognize what deserves deeper investigation, and communicate what you learn clearly.
You may bring experience in venture capital, startups, business development, partnerships, entrepreneurship, accelerators, innovation, technology, consulting, or another environment that exposed you to founders and early-stage companies.
Strong candidates will bring:
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Intellectual curiosity across technology, markets, business models, and emerging categories.
- Confidence reaching out to founders and developing new relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- The ability to synthesize an early-stage opportunity into its essential strengths, questions, and risks.
- Sound judgment when working with incomplete information.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- An understanding of the basic dynamics of product, technology, go-to-market, business models, and venture financing.
- Strong organization and follow-through.
- Comfort managing multiple relationships and opportunities at different stages.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach to working with founders and Eider Group partners.
- Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment where processes will continue to evolve.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a traditional sales position. There is no product quota, territory, or expectation of high-volume transactional outreach.
The objective is to build real relationships with founders and surface strong venture opportunities, not simply generate leads.
This is also not a purely investment-focused role. While you will help evaluate companies and opportunities, Eider Group's model extends beyond providing capital. We work alongside founders to help build the product, technology, go-to-market engine, operating foundation, and company itself.
The question is therefore not simply, "Is this a company Eider Group would invest in?"
It is also, "Is this a company Eider Group can help build?"
